Go storm
"Go storm" is translated into English literally. The word doesn't mean heading for a disaster, but it does mean that many people take to the streets to celebrate an event or a major national victory.
Anyone who is Vietnamese living in big cities is no stranger to
these two words. "Going storm" is the fan slang for Vietnamese
football. This means the act of going down the street to cheer, raising a beer
to congratulate each other every time the team wins a major tournament in the
region such as SEA Games, AFF CUP, Asian Cup... Last night was a great night
with many streets filled with flags and red shirts for the Vietnamese football
team when the Vietnamese team won the championship for the second time in SEA
Games. Especially we won against the Thai team. Ten years ago, every time we
met Thailand in this tournament, our team failed. It has become a haunting
called Thai team for decades. In last night's match, the U23 Vietnam team won
completely which showed our bravery, will, and perseverance. It shows that
Vietnamese youth always have the will to strive and overcome all barriers,
towards victory and success. Every time I have a chance to "go storm"
like that, I feel like the whole nation unites and the pride of my country is
raised!
